Velcro Boy turns 7!

(a week ago)    I'll spare you the "where did the time go" rant that has become such a part of my life.  I guess it comes from having my two oldest have birthdays and having a (quickly) growing baby at the same time.  To say nothing of the 4 year old that seems to have grown up overnight.

Since we had the party 2 weeks ago, no cake today, but he did have some presents from my parents to open...

Lego walkie talkies (unfortunately they don't work well - constant static on one unit.  We're working with the company to get it replaced)
"spy watch".  Tells the time in 100 (or maybe just 9) time zones.

Boys and their trucks :)

And the Professor's new cut (though he could use another by now, sigh)

The Professor is 9!

We had the party a few days ago, but The Professor agreed to have his cake on his actual birthday since we were so busy.

He had a Formula One theme.  The frosting came out more pink than red :(  The color came out more as the cake sat for a day or two.  Yummy leftovers!

Birthday 2012

When God sent me the blessing we refer to as The Professor and Velcro Boy, he also send me a challenge.  He sent them 2 years and 10 days apart.  Given that their birthdays are so close and hubby's limited availability on weekends, we have a family party for them together.  Did I also mention that hubby's birthday is 6 days after Velcro Boy's birthday?

We had their party a bit early this year due to scheduling difficulties.  They each wanted a different theme this year.  Last year they agreed on one theme.  The Professor wanted a Formula One theme and Velcro Boy wanted dirt.  So, we compromised :)

I mentioned hubby's birthday...  If you look closely, he managed to take off a wheel, knocking out some candy.  This was one stubborn pinata!
 Hmmm...what can I buy?
 OOHH, I have one too.
 Snap Circuits!

 Recycling truck!
Amazon wraps and gift tags gifts!
He's already putting his Snap Circuits away :)
The "Dirt cake".  Oreo cookie crust, chocolate pudding, whipped cream and Oreo topping.  Yummy!
A great wind blew :)

Doodlebug's 4th birthday

Doodlebug turned 4 on January 29th, so we had his party on February 1st.  I surprised him with a Dinosaur Train theme.  He absolutely loves the show!

So thrilled!!!
 Dinosaur Train books!
My very own "Nerf" gun.  His brothers each got one for Christmas.
 "Look brothers"!

Doodlebug is 3!!!

and 6 weeks later...I'm finally posting pictures & video!!!  My only defense is a trip out of town, soccer games and unavailable guests delayed his party (by 3 weeks).

The new favorite toy.  Toy Story Memory game from Aunt & Uncle.

Thomas bubble set!

Of course, big brother HAS to explain how it works ;)

street sweeper truck

fire truck, And he's wearing a new shirt (as if the tag didn't give it away).  It says goal all over the front with pictures of soccer balls.

Doodlebug's second birthday!

Just thought I would share some pictures!

The Cake - I usually make a "specialty" cake of some kind but just did not have one in me this time around.  So, this one is sort of plain.  It is a strawberry cake though and he loved it!  That's what's important.

Blowing out his candles!  First shot too.  In fact, he did it so quickly that I missed it :(
He was only too happy to do it again...
And again...and again...

Opening presents with his brother and cousin looking over his shoulder.

These kids all love to read, that they just plopped down around me in the  middle of the living room floor!

The Professor sharing his lap :)

Mommy and boy (I guess he's no longer a baby :( )

2 years ago...The crib upstairs was empty.
Today the boy that sleeps in it looks like he's outgrowing it.

2 years ago...the hands that belong to the tiny handprints on the wall were still inside me.
Today those hands hold crayons, tinkertoys and love to give hugs to mommy.

2 years ago...I had no idea that I was about to experience *the* most difficult month of my life.
Today I look back to how very fast those days passed.

2 years ago...my belly was very full, but my arms were relatively empty.
Today my arms, and my heart, are very full.

2 years ago...I was contemplating how much happens in the span of 9 months.
Today I'm contemplating how very much has happened in the past two years.

Happy birthday Doodlebug...you are so loved!

Happy Birthday to me!

My sister-in-law wished me to be able to sleep past 7:00 today, and her wish came true!!  I had to go into Doodlebug's room around 5:15 (haven't had to do that for a while, I think he was confused by the blanket :) ).   I went back to sleep until just after 7:00.   The alarm went off at 7, then a few snoozes and Doodlebug was awake for the day.

It's been a nice day!   Beautiful weather!   We went to the park this morning, then to lunch at Applebee's, home for naps and I kinda lounged around.   I had planned on getting a few things done today, but getting the kids down around 2:00, killed my ambition.   I spent the afternoon doing a few things for me!   I got caught up on journaling in my MOM's book, gave myself a pedicure, made salad dressing and hung out with the kids.   hubby took them to the library to give me a few minutes quiet.   After the kids go to bed, we're going to watch a movie and get Chinese :)   Yummy!
